When love is the greatest thing in life

It was a typical Thursday I know my mom would be fasting. I offered to buy her food for her breaking of fast but she told me she had already cooked mee rebus. Mee rebus, for those who don’t know, is always prepared with yellow noodles. But I would prefer not to have yellow noodles.

So when I arrived at Mom’s in time for my dinner, Mom announced gleefully that she had prepared some mee hoon (or some call it bee hoon – rice vermicelli) especially for me! I was so touched and felt love like a little girl once more. After dinner, we sat in the hall and Mom began her prep talk – just like how I always remember it, and Dad joining in. I used to detest the times for prep talks but now that I’m married and living away from her, I yearn to hear the words she has to say.

I guess Allah’s angels didn’t wait long and gave me my first sign there, through my mom and dad. The best people in my life ever.

It always takes the people you love the most to hit you the hardest with the facts of life ya? I can think clearly now after the talk I had with Mom and Dad. I see their concerns and I should have realized it a long time ago. Everyone has left, I need to too.
